Re: LANtronnet
Will there be people not asking questions all the time?
I've told you about twelve times now, probably not.
The whole point of a LAN is that you play together, not play one game and then just play online for the rest of the weekend which is what happens and nobody can deny that. I recommend you update your STEAM before you come to the LAN for it to work in Offline mode properly.

Re: LANtronnet
Several Steam games don't work without an online connection. The Source engine outright refuses to work in Steam's offline mode.
Paying £18 to be without internetz for 48 hours is a tad devastating to some of us data addicts.

You mean you trolls.
The Source Engine refuses to work in Offline mode? We were still playing CSS at the first LAN. I've only ever had one problem with Steam in Offline mode and that was a long time ago and since i've been keeping it up to date i've had no problems

Re: LANtronnet
SG charged £20 for a 48-50 hour LAN party with internet access, places to sleep and the people downstairs didn't have to put up with Rock Band being right next to them pumped out over an amp.
Yes. £18 for a weekend without internet, less places to sleep and putting up with Rock Band is devastating.
All weekend we had trouble with Steam in offline mode. I know I had mine updated with the recent offline mode patch and that didn't stop Steam from refuting certain games. The only Steam game I could get to work properly was Beyond Good & Evil, and that's 100% single player.

Re: LANtronnet
We do need internet in tbh, seeing as though a fair few games require it. People may also need patches and cracks, etc which nobody at the lan has.
Also, what about in the time between games or if some people don't want to join in a certain game? They've got jack all to do, which would kinda be a waste of time/money.
That wouldn't happen if there were tournaments and other events (which there will be), so I don't see the problem there. For the price, we should expect an internet connection in all honesty.

Well after trying to set up a connection with the provider I had in mind, turns out they're not all they are cut out to be so hopefully, with this other one i've tried to establish broadband with, we'll have internet by the LAN...We'll know within 10 days anyway, that's a day before the LAN...

Re: LANtronnet
Internet is going live on the 1st of April! Only thing that could get in the way is if something goes wrong on the providers end.

Re: LANtronnet
Don't think I'm going to be at this LAN either actually.
Far too hard on the wallet at the moment, especially if I'm off to France next month >:

Re: LANtronnet
I'm not skint...I just want shiny things from Lyon. Plus the £20 I don't spend at the LAN would be better spent paying off my debt.
